Secure Sign On

We are pleased to announce that we have updated our current online banking website. We have modified the way you sign-on to our online banking website to provide you with an additional layer of security.

I. Strong Authentication and Secure Sign On

The safety of your online and personal information is of the utmost importance to us. We try and take every possible precaution to safeguard this information. Strong Authentication is the latest tool we are employing in the fight to safeguard your financial information.

Strong Authentication involves a multi-factor approach to a means of establishing your identity when you log-on to online banking to access your account. This is an improvement over the traditional authentication method, which offered only a single means of proving identity (your username and password).

Now we are pleased to announce a new feature that will make online banking with us even safer!

Introducing Secure Sign On.
Our new Secure Sign On process has two parts. First, a picture and phrase which you select will be displayed every time you begin the sign-on process, so you'll know you are at our site and not an imposter site. Second, we will need to be sure it's you, so in some cases, we may ask you to provide a bit more than just your password before you sign on.

When you come to our site beginning in February 2007, you'll be asked to set up Secure Sign On, and we encourage you to do so. The process is very quick and very easy. Here's all you'll need to do:

  • Select a picture and personal phrase — These visual cues will be displayed when you sign on and are your assurance that you're truly on our online banking log on page.
  • Select and answer confirmation questions — These questions may be used during your sign-on process to ensure that financial information can only be accessed by authorized individuals.
  • Register your personal computer (optional) — With your permission, we can automatically register your computer as a location that is authorized to access your account information. If you sign in from a computer that hasn't been registered, we'll use the confirmation questions you chose to verify that you're authorized to access your account

Please note that some browsers allow you to save your password, so you don't have to enter it every time you sign on. For security purposes, you will no longer be able to do this with Secure Sign On. In the future, you will be asked to type in your password each time you sign on to Online Banking. If you need help or can't remember your password, call Customer Service.

After you're set up with Secure Sign On, you can feel completely at ease when performing your online transactions with us! And sign-on will be as easy as it always was.

V. Learn how to protect yourself further from Spyware

Spyware refers to software that collects information about a person or organization without their knowledge or informed consent and reports such data back to a third party. This can be used to conduct identity theft.

Here's what you can do to ensure the safety of your online banking:

  • Install anti-Spyware, virus protection and firewall software. Update your software regularly to make sure you are protected from the latest threats.
  • Adjust your browser settings to prompt you whenever a web site tries to install a new program or Active-X control.
  • Make sure you read all End User License Agreements carefully. Try to avoid downloading software if you find the licensing agreement difficult to understand.
  • Ensure that your operating system and browser has the latest patches and updates.
  • Never open emails from sources you do not know or trust.
